What is probably the oldest ski hut in the world, the “Sonnbühel”, has been providing exhilaration on Kitzbühel’s Hahnenkamm since 1924. In 2016, Dr. Christian Harisch and South Tyrolean Ivan Marzola started a new era at Sonnbühel with the aim of reinventing Alpine gastronomy.
Due to its prime location not far from the top station of the Hahnenkamm cable car, the Sonnbühel has been regularly frequented by countless skiers since its use as a mountain inn, who have expressed their satisfaction and enthusiasm for the unique ski hut to the outside world. Not only sun worshippers and nature lovers have always been spoilt on the terrace with plenty of hours of sunshine and the magnificent view - the terrace with its inviting deckchairs and the snow bar have also long been a hotspot for celebrities from all over the world.
In addition, great importance has always been attached to good food: Sonnbühel has an excellent reputation and celebrity chef Eckart Witzigmann, for example, counted Sonnbühel's cuisine "among the best over 1000 metres" for good reason.
The ski hut, which has been preserved almost in its original state, is even regarded by architectural experts as a jewel of the 1920s. This special ambience, which combines tasteful elegance with authenticity and inviting cosiness with aesthetic elements of modernity, sets the Berggasthof Sonnbühel apart from other mountain inns in many respects.
The Special Nights every Friday evening, live music, a 5-course menu and the whole thing in the Kitzbühel mountains are legendary.
