This clay court tournament, which draws crowds to Kitzbühel every year at the end of July/beginning of August, has boasted a select field of participants for decades and also offers top-class social events throughout the town beyond the court. The tennis tournament, which was held for the first time in 1945 amongst occupying soldiers, also attracts many world-class players who have been playing in summer in Kitzbühel since 1957 thanks to its impressive Alpine backdrop.
